In this blog, we will explore ways on how we can visualize data by connecting Qlik Sense to OBIEE Subject Areas using BI Connector.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Creating Subject Area DSN<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Create a DSN with BI Connector in the ODBC Data Source Administrator(64-bit) and choose the &#8220;Subject Areas&#8221; option as the Data Source Type.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Watch this video on how to create DSNs using BI Connector:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Fb4Kt5lz3t8?rel=0\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; encrypted-media\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h2>Connecting Qlik Sense to OBIEE Subject Areas<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Start by connecting to the Qlik server in your browser. Click the &#8220;BI Connector DSN&#8221;, enter your credentials before clicking &#8220;Create&#8221;. Select a subject area.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Tables in Subject Area will be listed under the &#8220;Tables&#8221; column.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Apply filters to the tables if needed.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Select the required column.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The script will then be automatically generated.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Click on &#8220;Insert Script&#8221;.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For joining tables in the same subject area, use GZID as the join column. GZID is a BI Connector created virtual column that can be used to create dummy joins in Qlik Sense. Since the actual join conditions are defined in OBIEE, using GZID as the join field enables BI Connector to push the query into OBIEE and execute the joins in OBIEE. \u00a0You can also perform join by inserting a script similar to this.<\/span><\/p>\n<pre class=\"lang:plsql decode:true\">LOAD *;\r\n\r\nSQL SELECT\r\n\r\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\"CustomerTable\".\"Address\",\r\n\r\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\"OrdersTable\".\"Employee Count\"\r\n\r\nFROM \"Northwind-Test\".\"Customers\" AS \"CustomerTable\"\r\n\r\nINNER JOIN \"Northwind-Test\".\"Orders\" AS \"OrdersTable\"\r\n\r\nON \"CustomerTable\".\"GZID\" = \"OrdersTable\".\"GZID\";<\/pre>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Click on the &#8220;Load Data&#8221; icon to load the result of the query into your Qlik Servers in-memory space.
