The BI Connector license server for these versions will be shut down on that date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, if you\u2019re using v4.x on your machine, now is the right time to upgrade to v5.x. Please take a few minutes to read this blog post <u>entirely<\/u> to know everything about the upgrade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Deadline to Upgrade<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The deadline to upgrade to BI Connector v5.x is <strong>August 12th<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We highly recommend you upgrade well before that date so you avoid a last-minute rush, and continue visualizing your OBIEE data without any service interruption after August 12.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Time Taken for the Upgrade Process<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The upgrade process is easy and simple. You can complete the entire process in a <strong>few minutes<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The exact steps to upgrade are also provided in this blog post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What will happen to the Existing DSNs and Reports?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you follow the steps provided below and upgrade to v5.x successfully, the DSNs and the reports you created with the 4.x will be retained in the newly installed v5.x.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What about the license key?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A valid license key, that&#8217;s activated on a BI Connector v4.x version will also work with the v5.x version. The licenses&#8217; validity period will not be affected by the upgrade.<p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Steps to Upgrade to BI Connector v5.x<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Now let&#8217;s quickly run through the steps to complete the upgrade. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s just a <b>4-step process<\/b>, which starts with identifying the version you currently use. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Step 1:<\/strong> Find the BI Connector version on your machine<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Please go through the steps <a href=\"https:\/\/support.biconnector.com\/support\/solutions\/articles\/8000054250-how-to-find-the-version-number-of-bi-connector\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\"><b><u>here<\/u><\/b><\/a> to find the BI Connector version that\u2019s currently installed on your machine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Is the version you use already v5.x? If yes, then no action is required. If not, please go through the steps below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Step 2:<\/strong> Note down your current license key<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You can note down your current license key using the following steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Open the ODBC 64-bit console on your machine.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Select any DSN configured using the <strong>BI Connector Driver<\/strong>, and click <strong>Configure<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Click on the key \ud83d\udd11 icon at the top right of the BI Connector window that opens.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Copy the <strong>Activation Key<\/strong> and save it on a notepad. Now the license window of the newly installed BI Connector v5.x will open.<\/li><li>Fill your information as required. Please note that a valid work email must be entered on the <b>Email Address<\/b> field.<li>Delete the default trial key shown in the <strong>Activation Key<\/strong> field. Then copy and paste the key you saved to a notepad (in step 2 provided in this blog post) into the <b>Activation Key<\/b> field.<\/li><li>Click <strong>Activate<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Note &#8211; If you want to use an <u>offline activation<\/u>, please follow the steps <a href=\"https:\/\/support.biconnector.com\/support\/solutions\/articles\/8000087990-how-to-activate-bi-connector-license-offline-\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\"><b><u>here<\/u><\/b><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once the license is activated at step 4, you\u2019ve successfully upgraded to BI Connector v5.x.
